Chips and salsa is pretty much a go-to snack for me, but sometimes I like to change it up a little and venture away from the usual jars of salsa I keep in the pantry. Enter party in a bowl. I’ve seen similar recipes with names like “Black Bean, Corn, and Avocado Salad,” or “Fresh Salsa with Black Beans, Corn, and Avocado,” but those names are such a mouthful! Plus, I really feel like they don’t do this festive stuff justice. It’s so colorful and bright that even eating it by yourself on the couch – or straight from the bowl while standing in front of the fridge in the middle of the night – feels like a party.

Why is it that realities unwind
When I am with you and my mind is blank?
You own me, you control me, and you bind.
Still for my freedom, it is you I thank.
I am confused and restless and alive.
You make me question all that is my world.
Yet, in your presence, my peace I derive.
You are the answer that I do unfurl.
These contradictions that have held me back
Only lead me to loving you the more.
Yes, everything I’ve gained, I still do lack.
However, I do trust that I am yours.
Love is the truest untruth of my life:
Everything and nothing ends all my strife.

I traded to you
A part of my mind
For a part of your heart.
We met in
Some hidden bazaar
With innumerable lights
And unfathomable colors
And unrecognizable sounds.
I hoped for nothing more
Or nothing less
Or nothing less than more
Or nothing more than less.
And so I handed it over
After wrapping it smartly
With a dumb ribbon
Woven delicately from
Confused secrets
And silent memories.
You smiled,
I smiled back.
Rinse and repeat.

The recently released Hangover Part II raises a number of questions. For instance: How likely is it that the almost exact same series of events could happen to the same three guys a second time? Or, better yet: will telling that story a second time, while changing virtually nothing save for the location and an occasional upping of the ante, be as funny and successful as the filmmakers hoped? In the case of this movie, the answer is FUCK YEAH!

“If there is no such thing as time, you’re already there, and you’re controlling this cycle.” The opening line of Bright Eyes’ newest album The People’s Key is a strong foreshadowing of what is to come in this trippy, philosophical album unlike any other Bright Eyes work to date.

Risotto is one of those recipes that, once you know how to do it right, has infinite possibilities. It can be served as a main dish, or as a side; it can be dressed up into something fancy with a variety of veggies, spices, or even seafood or meat, or dressed down to the basics with nothing more than some grated cheese over the top.
This is my go-to recipe, but once you’ve got the method down the sky’s the limit as far as what you can mix into this base of creamy and delicious rice. I’m not gonna lie, risotto is not the type of dish that you can throw on the stove and ignore for a while – it definitely needs to be babysat and coddled while it cooks, but I can guarantee that the results will definitely be worth the effort.

I am probably one of the worst cooks you’ll ever meet; I’ve burned rice and ruined hard-boiled eggs. Half of the omelets I cook are inedible and I am incapable of following almost every recipe, but for whatever reason, I can cook crepes like a champ.

The internet has made it easier than ever for those first few fans to spread the word, with blogs and indie rags humming about it for weeks before anything substantial appears. Enter Cults, the New York indie pop duo that perfectly encapsulates this point.

I wander through the frame.
Between two fingers, I hold close
A world petrified in two dimensions,
Whose glossy scent stirs the cerebellum.
Two left feet guide my body down
Old Canaan Blvd – Memory Lane’s repudiated sister.

The most popular title people might associate with Scottish contemporary novelist Irvine Welsh would be his 1993 debut, and international smash-hit, Trainspotting, which Danny Boyle adapted into a film in 1996. Since then, both the book and the motion picture have enjoyed a large cult following, particularly amongst the disaffected youth. But Welsh has been busy in the eighteen years since Trainspotting, writing seven other novels, the fifth of which is the brutally hilarious piece of modern gothic The Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs.
